Jaidee Resort, Hua Hin

Quiet location, nice food, traditional Thai setting.

Hua Hin

Aislinn almost thrashes Dave!

Hua Hin

We eye up a choice mode of transport, at a bargain price.  Shame it wouldn't fit in the suitcase.

Hutsadin Elephant Foundation

A refreshing drink, a cool wash and an invigorating scrub - what more does an elephant need after a stroll in the sun?

Hutsadin Elaphant Foundation

Our elephant was rescued from loggers, after a hard and often mistreated life.  She loved pineapples and would cleverly snap off the leaves and roots before devouring it whole!

Making friends, helped by bananas.

Aislinn takes Tongkham, one of the newest arrivals to the hospital, for a walk.

Vientiane

In the capital, Vientiane, there was not much to see, although the mini bus crammed with Buddhist monks caught my eye, as did the tucked-away shanti town.

Kuang Xi Waterfalls

Aislinn braved the ice-cold water.

Kuang Xi Waterfalls

Kuang Xi Waterfalls

At the main waterfall - spectacular.  Aislinn went on to climb up some of it - I didn't watch!

Kuang Xi Waterfalls

Yes, we were really there! The falls begin in shallow pools atop a steep hillside. These lead to the main fall with a 200 ft cascade. The falls are accessed via a pleasant and tree-shaded trail to a left of the falls. The water collects in numerous turquoise blue pools as it flows downstream.

Kuang Xi Waterfalls

Apologies for the random chap, the clear water proved irresistible.

Kuang Xi waterfalls, Luang Prabang

The most beautiful waterfalls we have ever seen.

Luang Prabang

Pretty marigold offering on sale and an interesting sign at the top of the hill.

Luang Prabang

The hike to the top of Phousi Hill and a beaming smile on arrival.
